President/CEO

Ed Schipul, CEO of Schipul – The Web Marketing Company, is an entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience in marketing and software programming.  His Houston based company developed the Tendenci software which powers more than 400 web sites and has over 1.4 million users.  The company’s broad client base includes the Houston Zoo, the Society for International Affairs, YMCA Houston, the National Pharmacy Technician Association and Tony Chachere’s.  Schipul has been the recipient of awards such as the Aggie 100 (2005-2009), the Houston Fast 100 (2007-2009) and the Houston Fast Tech 50 (2005).

As a speaker, Ed has engaged audiences all over the country.  He has presented at the Bulldog Reporter National Conference, PRSA’s International Conference, the Sarrasota International Design Summit, Mom 2.0 and SXSW Interactive.  Groups he has spoken to include the Public Relations Society of America, the American Advertising Federation, the Southeast Texas Museum Association, The Houston Technology Center, the International Association of Business Communicators and the American Creativity Association.  Ed has also served as a guest lecturer at Texas A & M, the University of Houston and Rice University.

Ed has been published in national journals including the The Public Relations Strategist, PR Tactics, the Houston Business Journal, Association News and Nonprofit World.  He blogs for Hearst Newspaper’s Houston City Brights and has been interviewed on NBC and ABC news as an expert on Social Media and Technology.

Jennifer Ulmer

Programming Manager

Jennifer Ulmer is the Programming Director and a senior equity partner at Schipul. She is a team leader and an experienced programmer who reviews every project with the clients' long term goals in mind.

Jennifer manages the team of professionals responsible for continued expansion and improvement of the foundation codebase modules used to build our Tendenci software.

"J" is a devoted mother, has a unique sense of humor and grew up in Katy, Texas (Go Tigers!). She is a graduate of the University of Houston with a B.S. in Management Information Systems.

Rodney Sabrsula

Technical Director

Rodney Sabrsula is the Technical Director and a senior equity partner at Schipul.  He manages the security, access, backups, e-mail accounts and hosting of all client web sites. In addition to meticulously maintaining the server environment Rodney also manages the team of project managers and support staff at Schipul.

In addition to his network responsibilities, Rodney has served as the Web master for the Society of Petroleum Engineers - Gulf Coast Section web site (http://www.spegcs.org) for eighteen months. As one of Schipul's largest Houston-based clients, the relationship with SPE-GCS has proven a good match for both parties with the organization recently converting to the Tendenci software.

Rodney is a graduate of the University of Houston with a B.S. in Management Information Systems.

He ran the Houston Marathon in 2001, cycles yearly in the MS150 from Houston to Austin 2004 - 10, has volunteered for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo committe from 2005 -10 and has served as a volunteer fireman for the city of Stafford.

Aaron Long

Business Development Director

Aaron Long is a talented graphic artist, loves to teach and has a great sense of business. Aaron manages the team of creative artists that design and build the interfaces for our client web sites.

Aaron has more than ten years of experience in graphics, teaching, entrepreneurship, and, specifically, the field of animation. He has worked on major full-length animated films for both Warner Brothers and DreamWorks. He serves on the Advisory Board of The Art Institute of Houston, where he lends his expertise to students and faculty.

Aaron is a family man, draws a mean caricature, can find an image on Google image search faster than any other human being alive and is a graduate of Texas Tech University.

Katie Laird

Communications Team Manager

An Internet nerd and Social Media fanatic at heart, she spends much of her time testing out new online applications and has been published nationally for her ideas on integrating powerful online tools into smart marketing plans.  Katie is also a proud co-founder of Houston Netsquared – a Houston-area group dedicated to advancing nonprofit organizations' objectives through online technology (www.netsquared.org).

A longtime Blogger, you can find Katie online writing about Social Media, knitting and everything in between at www.happykatie.com, sharing stories about her awesome daughter Ella at www.happykiddo.com,  organizing a local art club called Houston Dr. Sketchy’s at www.houstonsketchy.com and sharing her adventures in the steamy city of Houston as Features Editor for the Houstonist at www.houstonist.com.

When not glued to her laptop (aka: 'geeking out’), Katie spends her days playing with vintage Soviet cameras, harassing used book store employees, baking the world’s best cupcakes and pushing short people in swings on the playground with her family.

Kerry Gayle

Interactive Client Team Manager

Kerry Gayle oversees one of the Interactive Client Teams (ICT) for Schipul – The Web Marketing Company. The Team is responsible for training and support, project management and taking Web sites online and maintaining the security of our network.

Prior to joining Schipul, Kerry worked as Multimedia Manager of an area film production company where her responsibilities included interactive design, authoring and programming as well as organization and project management of film and video projects.

A native of Singapore, Kerry moved to Texas in 1994 to attend the University of North Texas where she graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Radio Television and Film in 1997. She moved to Houston shortly thereafter and was married in 2005 to filmmaker Raymond Gayle.

David Stagg

Creative Director, Interactive Client Team Manager

David got his start in Web design when he began publishing his own Web site on Geocities. He graduated from the University of South Carolina and spent almost every Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium.

David's degree is in Media Arts; he wanted to be a horror filmmaker. (The best horror film of all time? Dario Argento's Suspiria). After completing stints as Design Director for the student newspaper The Gamecock and Editor-in-Chief of the student magazine of the University of South Carolina the garnet&black, he began to pursue his career in Graphic and Web design, landing him a job at Rice University. After working and teaching at Rice for about three years, David left to join Schipul in late summer of 2008. He is obsessed with sports, with huge loyalty to the Astros and Texans, Gamecocks and Longhorns college football, and Rice Owls college baseball.

Jonti Bolles

Search Engine Marketing Team Manager

Jonti is responsible for overseeing search engine marketing strategy (SEM), PPC campaign development, web analytics and placements in the major search engines for Schipul and the company’s clients.

Jonti joined Schipul in 2007 as part of the Production team and Account Manager for SPEGCS. In that role, she was responsible for training, support and leading new clients through the website development process. Prior to joining Schipul, Jonti taught Architecture at Prairie View A&M University and University of Houston and became enamored with technology. She studied Instructional Design and worked at Houston companies Eduneering and MindOH! as a project manager developing online educational tools for corporate compliance and for at risk youth.

Jonti is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University with a BBA in Economics / Finance and received her Master of Architecture from University of Texas at Arlington.

April Kyle

Operations Manager

April Kyle joined the Schipul team in February 2009 as an Account Executive. She had the privilege of working with such awesome clients as YMCA Houston and Beau Rivage poker, helping them navigate the social media seas. Since June 2009 she has served as Schipul's Operations Manager. 

April has been on the internet since Al Gore dreamed it up; chatting up a storm in virtual rooms and posting to message boards all over town. She has seen first hand time and again how powerful connections can be built online. Her career has seen her from mortgage banking to the floor of a Las Vegas casino to sitting on her couch live blogging online poker tournaments. Her personal brand is a bit of a contradiction. The name "thisisnotapril" was a gift from her friend @bobbybracelet. In order to distinguish her from another April in their group of friends, he mashed up her blog name with her name. And a new identity was born.
